Start your day off right with a breakfast smoothie.
I make these 2-3 times a week for my husband and I. Packed with protein, veggies, and fruit, this breakfast smoothie will help ensure that you’re eating your fruits and vegetables while also keeping you full throughout the morning.
A few notes:
- The Blender: Now I know they are expensive but I absolutely adore our Vitamix blender. Between smoothies, homemade Nutella, soups, and other fun cooks and bakes, it’s probably our most used appliance. I wish I had bought one sooner. So if you love cooking/baking and are on the fence about purchasing one, here’s your sign to go do it.
- Mix up your flavors: The two main smoothie combinations I’ve been making as of late are Tropical (this bag from Costco with mango, peaches, pineapple, and strawberries) and Acai Berry (this other bag from Costco with raspberries, blackberries, and blueberries). Feel free to use what you have, I’d just recommend sticking to around 3 cups of frozen fruit total.
- Protein powder: It took many years for me to find a protein powder I could stomach. So when I found the unsweetened and unflavored version of Orgain, I became a loyal customer. I can’t stand Stevia and also like that by not having a flavor, it can easily be substituted into other recipes (for example, my favorite mini waffles).
- Save it for later: More often than not, I’ll make these the night before and store them in the fridge to have the next day. They aren’t as frosty as when they’re freshly made, but it makes for a very convenient and healthy pre-made breakfast!
